World Record for the Longest Rope Crossing Using Pierced Clamps

rope crossingUnusual world record is set in Ukraine: a couple made the longest rope crossing using clamps pieced on their backs. This combination of extreme surface piercings and strength allowed Mariya Gafitsa and Pavlo Klets to claim a new world record.

The couple managed to cross 550 meters on the Dnipro River in Kiev. They used Tyrolean traversing techniques first used on Swiss mountains. The procedure included piercing clamps into their own backs to use for their rope crossing. This way, they had to carry their whole body weights on nothing but their own skin. The couple wore supplementary harnesses as a back-up, just in case something goes wrong and piercings tear of.
