Anyone can get it done, and it’s changing the appearance of man and woman kind! It’s becoming more and more popular as we try to assert our individuality from one another! BODY MODIFICATION IMPLANTS ( In body modification, an implant is a device placed under the human skin for decorative purposes. Such implants may be subdermal or transdermal. In the context of body modification, some may consider injections of silicone and other substances a type of implant as well)There are several types of implants the ones we are talking about today are SUB-DERMAL. Sub- Implants are objects placed in a pocket completely under the skin as a form of Body Art.
is a foreign object usually made from or Silicone. However in theory any biocompatible material can be used, such as steel, titanium, and alloys of the two. You could also use synthetic material such as teflon, silicone, and nylon. In some cases even coral has been used, although organic materials that can break down in the body are generally avoided.
As with the “horned” man pictured above these implants can be stretched slowly and over time. To do so you start with a normal implant and after it has healed you repeatedly reimplant slightly larger objects until desired size is reached. This can take time and must be done gradually to prevent severe scarring both internally and externally if the implant rips through the skin.
Subdermal implants are usually implanted using a pseudo-surgical technique, which basically consist of using a scalpel to make a single incision and then a dermal separator that slides under the skin like a small spatula to create a pocket for insertion of the implant. Once the object is implanted it only takes a few sutures to close it, or suture tape even. This procedure can be done by either a Body Modification Specialist or a Medical Professional, just make sure you only let someone work on you who has experience and is a professional!
While Sis a basic procedure there are always risk associated in these situations!
Some risk of dermal implants include:
* Tissue Resorption
* Surface Contamination
* Nerve and Muscle Pressure
* Implant Rejection
* Implant Subdermal Shifting
While most of these risk are unusual and rarely happen, a few are common. Migration for instance is to be expected, however it can be minimized with proper care. By using afor a few days and not sleeping om the implant you can greatly reduce the risk of suffering major migration, but may still experience a slight migration. As far as healing goes it’s generally worry free, as long as you take care and maintain a healthy immune system you just need to eat healthy and rest.
Personally this type of Body Modification has a very appealing side, it gives you the opportunity to change your appearance or accentuate certain parts of your body! While maybe not for everyone it is definitely becoming more mainstream!
