Popularity of Genital Piercings

54tGenital piercings are often perceived as extreme and unusual piercings. For some people, the idea of having a pierced genitalia is “too much” on itself.

There are even some piercing enthusiasts who’d gladly pierce their eyebrow, tongue or even a nipple but will never consider a genital piercings.

While piercings are a personal decision that should always depend on individual tastes, it’s important to know that genital piercings are not as rare as some people think. In fact, they are very popular among piercing enthusiasts. While they are not as common as, say, navel piercings or ear piercings, they are more popular than people think.

In other words, if you are intrigued by genital piercings, go for them! You are certainly not alone in your preferences.

How Common are Genital Piercings?

There is no clear statistics on genital piercings, or piercings in general, so it’s difficult to estimate the numbers. However, anecdotal evidence and popular demand show that genital piercings are far from being rare. While they may be rare in overall population, they are popular among piercing enthusiasts.

Some sources indicate that female genital piercings are more popular than male genital piercings. At the same time, Prince Albert piercing seems to be the most popular genital piercing in the world. It’s clear that both men and women enjoy this type of piercing so if you wish to get an intimate piercing you need to know you’re not alone!

Trained Piercers

A good thing about popularity of genital piercings is that there are trained, experienced professionals who can perform them properly. With any type of a piercing, it’s vital to find a reliable studio and an experienced professional to perform the piercing. This is the only way to stay safe and have a problem-free piercing.

When choosing a piercer it’s important to find an experienced person. An experienced piercer is the one who’s not only knowledgeable about piercings in general but also in the type of piercing you’re interested in.

This is even more important when it comes to genital piercings and other sensitive piercings. Since genital piercings are more demanding and somewhat rarer than common piercings such as ear or navel piercings, it’s vital to find a piercer who is truly knowledgeable about the piercing you’re interested in.

Luckily, there are piercers specialized in genital piercings. There are also general piercers experienced with genital piercings. In other words, it’s not impossible to find a good piercer for your genital piercing. It is yet another proof of how popular genital piercings are. Again, they are not the most popular piercings in the world but they are more common than people think.

Most Popular Genital Piercings

The most popular genital piercings are:

For men:

For women:

Guiche Piercing

Guiche PiercingA guiche piercing is a male genital piercing done on the perineum. This is not the most popular and widespread genital piercing, but there are many men who have it, so it’s not considered rare, either.

Guiche piercing is not difficult to perform and it can bring added stimulation, so many men enjoy it to the fullest.

Piercing and Placement

The Guiche piercing (pronounced “geesh”) first gained popularity among gay BDSM culture, only to become more common among all demographics in the 1980s and 1990s. According to Doug Malloy, this piercing is of a Polynesian origin. He said that some communities on Tahiti used to practice it on teenage boys. However, there is no concrete proof of this claim.

A Guiche piercing is done on the perineum, on the spot between a man’s scrotum and the anus. Typically, the piercing is done centrally, across the raphe (the midline of the penis). This standard placement is done transversely to the penis, but other placements are also possible. For example, some men choose to have their guiche done laterally.

Guiche is not difficult to perform, but some care must be taken. It’s mainly because this piercing is something between a regular piercing and a surface piercing, so it may require special care.

Jewelry

Typical jewelry for a guiche piercing is a Captive Bead Ring. Many men choose these rings because they are practical and they can also be used to attach weights. Captive Bead Rings can be used both as initial jewelry and regular jewelry.

Other popular jewelry type are barbells, usually circular barbells, but other styles are always possible.

If a guiche piercing is stretched, it can accommodate jewelry made for large gauge piercings, such as plugs or flesh tunnels. However, wearing such jewelry may cause discomfort due to the position of the piercing.

Additional Info and Tips

  • Typical healing time for this piercing is between 6 and 9 months.
  • It’s vital to keep perfect hygiene. This piercing is located very near the anus so it’s understandable that you should take a great care about hygiene. This should go even beyond the healing time – this is piercing that you need to take care of at all times.
  • Guiche piercings are prone to migration and rejection because of their placement.
  • Many men like to wear special weights through their guiche piercing jewelry for additional stimulation.
  • This piercing is considered functional, since it is known to increase sexual pleasure. It can also be used for various kink and bondage activities.
  • Some men have more than one guiche piercing done. Multiple guiche piercings are known as a “guiche ladder”. A guiche ladder can be formed as an extension of an existing frenum ladder.
  • It is possible to stretch a guiche piercing. Such a stretched piercing is often known as a “guiche tunnel”.
  • There is a female variant of this piercing, called “female guiche”. However, guiche piercings are much rarer with women.

Dydoe Piercing

Dydoe PiercingDydoe is one of the more “exotic” male genital piercings, but it’s popular among many men who are looking for a unique penis piercing. As such, there are many men who have dydoe piercing performed, either alone or in pairs. Also, many people who have a dydoe piercing also have another genital piercing, though this is not a rule.

A dydoe piercing is done on the rim of the penis glans. Dydoe is known as a functional piercing: it can enhance the pleasure for both the wearer and his partner during intercourse.

Placement and Procedure

Dydoe is a rim piercing, that is, it is done on the rim of the penis head. While it can be done alone, most men choose to have dydoe done in pairs, one piercing on the each side of the penis head. However, there is no official limitations on how many dydoe piercings one can have, so there are many men with three, four or more dydoe piercings done on their penises.

A dydoe piercing passes through the ridge of the penis glans. If a man decides to have only one dydoe piercing done, it will typically be placed centrally. If he wants to have two, they will be placed symmetrically, one on the right and the other on the left side. A special placement, known as a “king’s crown” consists of several dydoe piercings positioned on the glans.

Dydoe piercings are typically done at 14 gauge, though there are exceptions.

Jewelry

A typical jewelry for dydoe piercing is a curved barbell. Usually, standard curved barbells are used, with plain balls on each end, though some men choose to use more decorative barbells.

Another popular jewelry for this type of piercing is a ring. Typically, Captive Bead Rings are used, though some men choose to use different types of rings, such as seamless, segment or screwball rings. A ring is a good jewelry for this type of piercing but has to be used with caution, since it has a higher risk of rejection.

The piercing is typically done with a straight needle, even though curved jewelry (such as curved barbells or rings) is typically worn. The procedure is typically done freehand. This is not a long procedure but it has to be done by a piercer specialized in genital piercings. After the hole is made the jewelry is inserted.

The piercing is often associated with pain, just like any other penis piercing. However, the procedure itself doesn’t last long so it should be bearable. You should expect some bleeding so do not be alarmed by that.

Aftercare is important for preventing infections and other problems. You should clean your dydoe piercing at least twice per day. It’s best to use a saline solution and not any harsh cleaners should ever be applied. Special care should be taken during showering and sex in order not to irritate your new piercing.

Before getting your dydoe done, make sure to find an experienced piercer who is known to be familiar with this type of piercing. As with any relatively rare piecing, you need to find a person who is not only a general professional but who has enough experience in the specialized piercing you’re interested in.

Additional Tips and Information

  • The average healing time for dydoe piercing is 2 to 3 months, at least for the initial healing period. For a complete healing, a man has to wait anywhere between 4 and 6 months.
  • You should use a condom for sex until your dydoe is fully healed.
  • Not all men can get a dydoe piercing. In order for dydoe piercing to be performed, a man has to have a large enough rim at the corona. The rim also has to be well-defined. This is necessary so the jewelry could fit.
  • Men without a well-defined rim at the corona and without enough tissue at this spot can get a dydoe piercing but it’s likely to migrate out.
  • There is also a deep variation of this piercing, known as “Zephyr”. It is longer than the regular dydoe and exits near the tip of the penis. This piercing uses a longer barbell than traditional dydoe.
  • You can change the jewelry when the piercing is fully healed but never leave jewelry out for long periods of time. Penis piercings are quick to close, which may make it difficult or impossible to insert the jewelry back.
  • While both circumcised and uncircumcised men can get a dydoe piercing, there is a heightened risk for uncircumcised men because the foreskin keeps the area moist, which may prolong the healing and lead to other problems.

Ampallang Piercing

AmpallangThe Ampallang is one of the most popular male genital piercings in the world. In a way, it works as the opposite of Apadravya. While Apadravya is a vertical penis piercing, Ampallang is a horizontal one. It goes horizontally all the way through the glans of the penis. It is a very striking piercing with a long history around the world.

The Ampallang is a functional piercing, which means it’s made to enhance sexual pleasure for the wearer and his partner. The wearer will enjoy the internal stimulation through penis tissue as the jewelry rubs on the inside of the penis. The partners will experience additional stimulation due to the thicker glans width.

Procedure and Placement

The Ampallang goes horizontally all the way through the glans of the penis. There are two main placements: transurethral (when it passes through the urethra) or non-transurethral (when the piercing and jewelry don’t go through urethra).

There are several health issues with the Ampallang piercing. First of all, an inadequate procedure can bring a lot of problems. One of the main risks during the procedure is the blood loss. It’s also vital to obtain a proper measurement for the jewelry or else the wearer risks infection, migration and rejection. This is something you will need to think about when deciding to get this type of piercing.

Also, keep in mind that Ampallang pierces a lot of tissue and therefore the procedure can be very painful.

You will also need to choose whether you want a transurethral placement or not. The choice is yours, but keep in mind that transurethral placement offers an advantage: the urine will keep this piercing clean. Also, transurethral Ampallangs are less likely to migrate.

Another possible advantage to transurethral Ampallang is that it pierces less tissue: urethra is a natural hole so it’s like having two shorter piercings done. It may make pain a bit less intense.

There are several different ways to perform this piercing: clamping method, freehand method and scalpelling method.

Before the procedure, the area will be cleaned and prepped. After this, your piercer will mark the spot and ask you to confirm the placement. If clamping method is used, the glans is clamped and the needle inserted through. After the piercing is performed the clamps are removed and jewelry is inserted. With a freehand method the piercer doesn’t use clamps but holds the glans firmly in one hand while piercing with the other. The scalpelling method is good for those who wish to get pierced at a larger gauge, for example, 4 gauge and up.

Keep in mind that it’s common and expectable for Ampallang piercing to bleed, sometimes even hours after the procedure. However, it’s important to ensure that bleeding is controlled. If you keep bleeding a lot for hours, consider contacting your doctor.

Typically, Ampallang is pierced with needles between gauge 12 and 8, but other possibilities ate possible.

Jewelry

The main jewelry type worn in an Ampallang piercing is a straight barbell. In fact, this is typically the only jewelry type you can wear with this piercing. A barbell has to be long enough to account for tissue expansion during erection.

At first, you will get an initial jewelry but it will be changed after the first stage of healing is done. Any jewelry worn in an Ampallang piercing has to be made of body-friendly materials because this is a very sensitive body part and you can’t risk any infections or other problems.

It’s vital to get a proper measurement for the jewelry or else the Ampallang will bring numerous problems. For adequate measurement, it’s important for penis to be erect. This is typically done in private by the customer himself. However, the piercing itself is always done on flaccid penis.

Keep in mind that for the best results, it’s better for the piercer to obtain this measurements. The piercer will know how to properly account for the angle and placement to get the right measurements.

Additional Info and Tips

  • A typical Ampallang goes through the penis glans. There is also a special variant of this piercing, known as the Shaft Ampallang, which penetrates the shaft of the penis horizontally. It can be done at any point along the shaft’s length, so there are many different placements possible.
  • It’s also possible to have a combination of an Apadravya and Ampallang. This penis piercing is known as the Magic Cross.
  • The healing time for the Ampallang is typically 4 to 6 months. However, it can take a year or more to be fully healed.
  • It’s important to know that this is a complex piercing so it’s vital to choose a knowledgeable piercer specialized in genital piercings. You simply can’t risk to visit an amateur for this one. It’s important that your chosen piercer knows what they’re doing.
  • You will need to abstain from sex for at least 6 weeks. In some cases this period can last for months.
  • While this piercing is partially made to enhance pleasure for the wearer’s partner keep in mind that it can be very uncomfortable for female partners during vaginal sex. Oral sex can also be uncomfortable due to the length of the jewelry.
  • It is possible to stretch your Ampallang piercing, but you need to wait until it’s fully healed.
  • If you have a transurethral Ampallang, keep in mind that it can divert the flow of urine. It may make you sit down to urinate.
  • Keep in mind that this piercing always leaves a tube of scar tissue, even if jewelry is removed and piercing is healed.

Kuno Piercing

Kuno PiercingThe Kuno Piercing is a male genital piercing done on the foreskin. It is a relatively simple and painless procedure and it makes for a very unique piercing. Only men who are not circumcised can get a Kuno piercing.

Kuno piercing is not just a simple foreskin piercing. It is done on the precise spot on the foreskin, just under the end of the foreskin near the penis head. Since the hole is made on this spot, and due to the position of the jewelry, this piercing resembles a Prince Albert piercing, but only from afar.

The Procedure

Almost any man who is not circumcised can get a Kuno piercing. The procedure itself is quick and doesn’t hurt much, so even those who are not fans of complex piercings can get this one. If the idea of a penis piercing scares you, consider a foreskin piercing instead. You may also use it as an introduction to other, more complex genital piercings. Not to mention that jewelry looks really nice and it draws attention to your penis.

The Kuno piercing is typically made on the part of the foreskin just under the penis head. The piercing is made in such a way that the jewelry enters through the foreskin and exits through the open end of the foreskin. This way, only one hole is needed to have this piercing, since the piercing uses the natural opening in the foreskin as the exit hole.

The Kuno piercing typically doesn’t lead to complications, but you need to be careful. The piercing should be done deeply enough so it won’t get rejected. You should also follow the aftercare instructions carefully. Just because this is not a complex piercing doesn’t mean you should forget about proper aftercare!

Jewelry

There are many jewelry types suitable for Kuno piercing. Captive Bead Rings and other similar rings are among the most common jewelry types used for this piercing. They are simple yet elegant, and they fit this piercing perfectly. D Rings are particularly good because they sit well against the skin and they are very comfortable to wear.

Another good choice are circular barbells. They are good because their shape allows them to move freely inside your piercing.

In case your new piercing is very sensitive, it’s best to wear soft jewelry that is not made of metal. Keep in mind that your chosen material has to be suitable for new piercings.

Additional Information

  • In order to keep your Kuno piercing clean, make sure to keep the genital area cool and dry.
  • Don’t wear tight underwear that might hurt the piercing by rubbing against it.
  • The healing time of this piercing is between 2 and 12 weeks.
  • After the piercing is done, you should abstain from strenuous sexual activity that might tear the piercing.
  • If you notice any sign of infection, act immediately. You don’t want the infection to spread to the urinary tract.
  • The jewelry used should be of large enough gauge to prevent piercing migration and rejection.

Hafada Piercing

Hafada PiercingA Hafada piercing is a male genital piercing done on the scrotum. It can be done anywhere on the surface of the scrotum, but it’s important to note that the piercing itself includes only skin and not the tissue itself. In short, a Hafada piercing is a surface piercing. It should never penetrate deep into the scrotum.

Those who wish to have piercings deep into scrotum should opt for transscrotal procedures. These are completely different piercing types and they typically include the scrotum tissue. Hafada piercing, on the other hand, involves only the scrotum skin.

Hafada Piercing

Hafada is done relatively easily, since it includes only skin on the surface of the scrotum. The only thing the piercer and the client should agree about is the placement. Hafada can be placed almost anywhere on the scrotum.

Since the skin on the scrotum is loose and flexible, Hafada piercings are prone to migration, rejection and other problems associated with surface piercings.

Also, many men choose to get multiple Hafada piercings so they can wear multiple jewelry pieces on their scrotum. These multiple Hafadas are sometimes made as an extension of a frenum ladder piercing. Multiple Hafada piercings can make a very effective scrotal ladder.

Typical jewelry for a Hafada piercing is a Captive Bead Ring, a Curved Barbell or a Straight Barbell. When choosing your jewelry, it’s important to pick jewelry type that is the most comfortable and aesthetically pleasing for you.

Additional Information

  • Hafada piercing is relatively painless because the skin is very elastic. The procedure is fast and doesn’t bring much discomfort.
  • Keep in mind that a Hafada piercing can easily be irritated, due to the placement. Lack of ventilation can make the piercing difficult to heal.
  • When choosing a placement for a Hafada piercing, it’s important not to hurt the tissue under the skin in any way. It can be dangerous and lead to numerous problems.
  • The minimum gauge to be pierced with is 12. Smaller gauges are not recommended, and larger gauges are common with Hafada piercing.
  • Hafada piercings can be done both horizontally and vertically on the scrotum.

Dolphin Piercing

Dolphin PiercingDolphin piercing is a somewhat new procedure that is gaining more popularity in recent years. Many men who like their Prince Albert piercing also prefer a deeper placement, so the new form of a piercing was invented to accommodate these users and to produce different visual and sexual effects.

Piercing and Procedure

In many ways, Dolphin piercings resembles Prince Albert piercings. The main difference is the placement. Both types of piercing may use urethral opening at the tip of the penis as the first hole for the piercing, though typical Dolphin piercing uses the regular PA exit hole on the underside of the penis as its first hole. This way, a Dolphin piercing starts where PA piercing ends, just below the glans on the underside of the penis.

A typical Dolphin piercing exits further down the shaft, in a new hole. The exact position will depend on many factors, mainly the man’s individual anatomy and preferences.

Dolphin piercing was named by Jon Cobb and the name comes from the jewelry position just under the skin. It makes it seem that the metal bar dives just under the surface of the skin, like a dolphin.

In order to get a Dolphin piercing, it’s recommended to have a regular PA first, so it can easily be connected and expanded into a Dolphin. If you decide to go this route, your original Prince Albert has to be fully healed before you can go with the procedure of making it into a Dolphin.

Dolphin piercing is considered a functional piercing because it provides deep urethral stimulation during intercourse. This is why it’s ideal for men who like urethral play and deep urethral stimulation.

Jewelry

Most of the jewelry pieces used for other piercing types can accommodate a Dolphin piercing, provided they are long enough. Also, Dolphin jewelry is also more massive and done at a larger gauge, but it depends on the man’s preferences.

A typical jewelry piece used for Dolphin piercings is a barbell. Curved barbells seem to work the best. The jewelry goes from the first hole all the way down to the hole on the shaft. It places the metal bar firmly inside of urethra.

Additional Information

  • The healing time for this piercing is between 4 and 8 weeks, and will depend on your body, lifestyle and adequate aftercare.
  • Dolphin piercing is sometimes considered a form of a deep PA piercing, because of its placement.
  • Due to the angle of the jewelry and the urethra, a metal barbell may be uncomfortable for some men to wear until the piercing is fully healed. These men may choose to wear initial jewelry made of softer material and move to metal jewelry once the piercing is fully healed.
  • Another similar form of piercing is a very deep PA done with a huge ring and with an exit hole further down the shaft than simply behind the glans. Many men who choose this placement do this so they can stretch their PA easily.
  • Dolphin piercing is different than Dolphin Bites piercing, which is a form of lip piercing.

Stretching Your PA Piercing

PA PiercingThe Prince Albert piercing is the most popular male genital piercing in the world. Even though it seems complicated, it’s actually among the quickest and least invasive genital piercings you can get. Another good thing about this piecing is that it can easily be stretched to a larger gauge if this is what you want.

What Makes PA Piercing Simple?

The PA piercing is less invasive than other male genital piercing because there is actually only a small piece of skin to be pierced. The majority of the flesh used for this piercing already has a natural hole: the urethral canal.

This piercing uses the urethral opening on the top of the penis, then goes through the urethra and only the small portion underside the head of the penis should be pierced. The PA jewelry is inserted using these holes: the hole on the tip of the penis, then urethra and finally the artificial hole made using a piercing needle.

If you like and enjoy your PA piercing you might also like to know that it’s easily stretchable if you wish to wear a larger gauge jewelry.

How to Stretch Your PA

One important thing that needs to be said about the Prince Albert piercing is that it’s very easy to stretch it. This is not true for PA piercing only, but also for many other penis piercings. They are all easily stretchable.

The reason is the penis (glans) tissue, which can be stretched easily. That’s why men who enjoy this piercing usually don’t have any problems stretching it to a larger gauge.

In fact, PA is so easy to stretch that it’s among the most popular piercings for stretching, just after the earlobes. It’s not unusual for guys to wear massive jewelry of large sizes in their PA piercing. Even rings in the gauge 0 or 00 are not unusual to wear with this piercing.

PA is so easy to stretch that, while you need to be careful just like with any other stretching job, you don’t have to go from size to size. You may be able to skip several sizes, though it depends on the tissue and individual anatomy.

One important thing before stretching is to wait for your Prince Albert piercing to be fully healed. This is important. Your piercing has to be healed, clean and in a great condition in order to stretch it to a larger gauge. You should wait at least several months (6 months preferably) until you attempt stretching.

Generally speaking, the stretching is done quickly and without a problem, using one of the many stretching devices available for body piercing enthusiasts. When stretching your PA, it’s important to use a curved device to accommodate your piercing. Chances are that you will be able to skip some gauges without a problem, but you should never force jewelry in.

Additional Advice

  • Large jewelry will stretch your piercing even further.
  • There is no danger to wearing heavy, large jewelry in this piercing. However, big rings and other PA jewelry pieces may be uncomfortable for your partner during oral sex.
  • Many men report increased sexual pleasure when wearing bigger jewelry. Big jewelry is also very enjoyable for the man’s partner during sex.
  • Stretched PA is generally easy to shrink. Penis tissue shrinks pretty quickly, so chances are that you will be able to shrink your piercing to a smaller gauge if you like, or to retire it altogether (provided that you didn’t stretch your PA piercing to a really large gauge).

Enjoying the Apadravya Piercing

ApadravyaThe Apadravya is one of the most famous male genital piercings. Known as “vertical penis piercing”, Apadravya intrigues many people who are interested in this type of body modification. It’s important to note that while Apadravya is not a rare piercing (in fact, it’s one of the more common penis piercings), there are many people who still don’t know enough about it.

About Apadravya Piercing

The Apadravya piercing is a vertical glans piercing. It means that the piercing hole and jewelry pass vertically through the penis glans. The jewelry enters on the top of the penis glans and it exits on the underside of the penis.

This piercing is almost always placed centrally, and it passes through the urethra. Since the urethra is a natural opening on itself, the Apadravya doesn’t create a new hole through the whole glans – there is a natural hole inside the glans (the urethra). It makes the procedure a bit less complicated and less painful than it would be without the needle going through the urethra.

The exact placement will depend on the man’s individual anatomy and preferences. Most people prefer for Apadravya to be done on a slightly forward angle to the hips and not completely vertically. This makes penetration easier and sex more comfortable for the wearer’s partner.

Keep in mind that the Apadravya piercing technically consists of two separate piercings: Prince Albert and Reverse Prince Albert. The down portion of the Apadravya (from the urethra to the hole on the underside of the penis) is the Prince Albert piercing. The upper portion of the Apadravya (from the urethra to the hole on the top of the penis head) is the Reverse Prince Albert piercing. It means that if you already have a Prince Albert piercing, you can convert it to Apadravya relatively easily. If you have a Reverse Prince Albert, the process is even easier, since Prince Albert is a simpler piercing than the Reverse Prince Albert.

Sex with Apadravya

The Apadravya piercing is considered one of the most sexually pleasurable piercings, especially for the wearer’s partners. It’s one of the reasons why so many men decide to try this piercing. While there are no guarantees for heightened sexual pleasure, and while you should expect to go through certain adjustments, many men with Apadravya piercing report improved sexual satisfaction and more exciting experiences.

This is why Apadravya is considered a functional piercing: it’s not just aesthetically pleasing. It will also make sex more pleasurable for you and your partners.

This is particularly true for female sexual partners. Many women who have sex with men with Apadravya piercing claim that the jewelry rubs against their G spot, which is very pleasurable. Another benefit is that it makes the tip of the penis harder and the whole sexual experience more exciting.

In addition to this, some men choose to wear special vibrating jewelry during sex, which also contributes to overall satisfaction.

Also, some people claim that they simply find the look of a penis with Apadravya sexually stimulating. Performing oral sex on a man with Apadravya can be a very stimulating experience, because the jewelry allows for new sensation.

Many men with Apadravya piercing and their partners report increased sexual satisfaction in all areas of intimate life and all types of sexual activities. However, in order to reach this stage it’s important to follow a few simple rules:

  • Find an experienced piercer. Genital piercings are specific, so you need someone who is familiar with the Apadravya procedure. The piercing has to be done professionally, with a proper placement of the piercing and jewelry. This is the first step to ensure the enjoyment.
  • Follow the aftercare instructions carefully. It’s your penis and you want it to be clean. You have to prevent any possible infections so this is why you should be very careful during the healing time. It includes abstaining from all forms of sexual activities (even masturbating) during the initial healing period. After this period, you can resume sexual activities but with caution. Wearing condom during the healing time is highly recommended.
  • Get to know your body all over again. Chances are that the Apadravya piercing will change the sensations in some ways and that it will make you learn what feels right and how to satisfy yourself. Appreciate and enjoy this learning process. Learn what feels right and how to satisfy yourself and your partner. Remember: before you start enjoying sex even more than before, you will need to adjust to the changes and find the best way to enjoy sex all over again.

Additional Info & Tips

  • It’s important to note that it’s possible to perform an off-set Apadravya piercing, for various reasons. The piercing and jewelry don’t have to be made centrally. However, even these piercings will typically pass through the urethra.
  • Just like most of the other penis piercings, the Apadravya is relatively easy to stretch. You need to wait until the piercing is fully healed to start stretching, though.
  • As with most of the other genital piercings, the Apadravya may affect your sexual partner. If you want to have penetrative sex, it’s important to think about your partner and their feelings and enjoyment. While Apadravya is said to improve sexual pleasure, particularly for the female partners, your partner might want you to remove your jewelry during sex.
  • If you choose to remove jewelry during sex, make sure to put it back as soon as possible. Penis tissue tends to heal quickly and you don’t want to leave your Apadravya without jewelry for too long.
  • The most common jewelry type used for Apadravya piercings is the straight barbell. When choosing a barbell, make sure it’s long enough to accommodate erection (and, if it’s the first jewelry for a new piercing, it has to accommodate initial swelling). You will probably need to get a shorter barbell once the swelling is gone. It’s important that the barbell is long enough to accommodate for erection, but short enough not to pose a problem during sex.
  • The Apadravya piercing takes months to heal, but you will probably be ready to have sex (with a condom) after about a month.

Prince Albert and Reverse Prince Albert

Prince Albert PiercingThe Prince Albert (PA) piercing is the most popular male genital piercing in the world. Many men enjoy the look – and feel – of a penis that’s pierced in this way. It can bring sexual pleasure to the man, and many people claim that the look of a penis with PA is very striking and sexually stimulating.

Another popular male genital piercing with a similar name is the Reverse PA. While they tend to look pretty similar, these are actually different types of piercings.

Regular PA Piercing

While it may seem complex at the first glance, the ordinary PA piercing is surprisingly easy to perform. The piercing itself goes from the urethral opening on the tip of the penis to the underside of the penis. It means it largely uses the existing space – urethra, so there’s no much flesh to pierce at all. For the most part, the piercing goes through the urethra, so the only part of the penis that is actually pierced is the thin tissue on the underside of the glans. It’s one of the reasons why this is the most popular male genital piercing.

Both circumcised and uncircumcised men can get a PA piercing. Uncircumcised men will have the piercing done a bit off-center so the frenulum and the surrounding tissue is not damaged. Other than that, one’s circumcision status doesn’t dictate PA, so most men can get this piercing without a problem.

Since there’s so little tissue to actually pierce, the procedure is not as painful as some think it might be. Men who are not used to urethral stimulation often report that this part of the procedure is the most unusual one, because special receiving tube has to be inserted into urethra before the piercing is done. None of this is painful, and men who enjoy urethral stimulation don’t have any problems with it.

It takes about 2-4 months for PA to fully heal. During this time, it’s important to perform adequate aftercare and to be careful with any sexual activity you might want to engage in.

Since PA is a popular piercing type, there is a lot of elegant and suitable jewelry you can find to go with it. Most commonly, people wear curved and circular barbells, captive bead rings and segment rings.

Reverse PA

Reverse PAThe Reverse PA is another popular type of male genital piercing, even though it’s very different than the regular PA.

In this piercing, the jewelry goes through the urethra and exits in the hole pierced in the top of the glans. Because there’s more tissue on the upper side of the penis, the procedure is a bit more complex and more painful. However, it’s done quickly enough so usually it doesn’t pose much of the problem.

The main difference between PA and Reverse PA is the placement of the hole. In regular PA, the hole is made on the underside of the penis, while in Reverse PA, the hole goes through the top of the penis.

This difference is not just aesthetical, but also functional. There is more tissue on the top side of the penis head, so Reverse PA goes through more tissue.

The Apadravya piercing (vertical penis piercing) can be seen as a combination of PA and Reverse PA, because the hole goes through the whole penis, from the bottom, through the urethra and on the top.

Additional Information

  • PA piercings tend to bleed when they are fresh. This is normal. Many men are not prepared for this, so it becomes a source of discomfort. You should not worry if you notice some blood. However, if the blood persist, you should consult your doctor.
  • While PA piercings (or other genital piercings) sometimes make men to sit down to urinate, it doesn’t always happen. Many men can control the stream while standing, so if you really hate the idea of urinating while sitting down, there’s a chance that you won’t be forced to do it. It will probably take some patience to learn how to control the stream while standing.
  • Penis heals quickly, so you should always have the jewelry in place, unless you are ready to retire your piercing. Most men can have sex without the jewelry, even though most prefer to leave it in. In case you want to take your jewelry off during sex, make sure to get it right back after sex, because the piercing will start to heal (close).
  • Most PA piercings are done at 10 or 8 gauge. Many men prefer to stretch their PA to 6g or 4g, or even larger. In case you want to do it, make sure to go slowly. Also, never accept to be pierced with anything smaller than 10g. Jewelry that is too thin can lead to the “cheese cutter effect” you sure want to avoid!
