I'm what the French so nicely call "a lady of a certain age," and I started down the road of body piercing only a couple of years ago. I work in the legal field (for a municipality) which is very conservative and I enjoy shaking 'em up a little -- even grossing them out, if that's how they have to react. Seeing younger people with imaginative piercings does not bother me a bit. In fact, one of my co-workers in another of our City departments has a LOT of piercings b/c he also has a band. I guess he's young enough to be my son! But he thinks I'm pretty cool. My husband is not too keen on all this, but too bad. I do love jewelry and navel, ear and nose piercings give me lots of additional places to display. So, no, seeing piercings on younger folks in the workplace doesn't offend me in the slightest.

I am a senior citizen; my Granddaughter and I had our noses pierced at the same time several years ago. After three infections due to me being unable to master the nose screw, the Chain Gang introduced me to a "nose bone", which I had a total misconception of. I wouldn't go back to a nose screw now if someone paid me. The nose bone is a straight piece with a stone (or whatever) that shows on the nose, the straight piece polks through the nose hole and has a little ball on the end of it to keep it from falling out. Great comfort, no more infections...though I never try to take it out because I like it so much! The tiny diamond sparkles and I've never had anyone say anything derrogatory about it. And if they ever did, I'd just think they were jealous.

I think that with the age high like it is kids are likely to do it themselves and injur something, I have seen it done.
I can see the high age on genital and tattoo but for ears I don't see the point in parental permission.
Besides once they feel the pain of cartilage like my industrial if they are just doing it to be cool they will be turned off.
I love mine but at that age many aren't actually interested and it will just be taken out later anyway when they get lazy.

Mine are healing really well with just a spray of H2Ocean a couple times a day.
These are the best piercing I have ever had and were less painful then my industrial.
I love the sensuality of it and having my own little secret.

Unfortunatley there are shops out there that are still gettting away with piercing minors without checking for identification. No matter what laws are in effect kids will always find someone to do a piercing on them illegally for money. Parents please find a shop that has moral standards as well as proper health standards!
