New Plymouth District Council Mulls a New Piercing By Law

A new bylaw (under consideration) in the New Plymouth District Council will impose new restrictions on tattoo and body piercing parlors that will require them to be licensed and maintain strict health standards vis-a-vis sterilization of equipment, general health and safety and also record keeping. The new law proposed is to prevent transmission of Hepatitis B and C. Read the whole story at:

The law has been welcomed by tattoo artists and body piercers alike who would want to break the unpleasant myths clouding their profession. Whether it’s getting inked or under the piercing gun, safety is primary!

Young people smart enough to be rebel or should also be smart enough to worry about their health! You have to remember that body modification is only valid as long as there is a body to modify.

Want body piercing? Get it the right way

Body Jewelry – Go for nickel free body jewelry only. Nickel causes allergies and may lead to infection.

Body Piercing Parlor – Go to a licensed piercing parlor. New Plymouth will have many licensed parlors now. But you can sure find one in your area because if not the law, the practice should be followed everywhere (at least)!

Body Piercing Professional – Is this still a mystery? Certified professional piercer only!!

And if you are a body jewelry/ piercing enthusiast then spread the word of law in your area too. So that body piercing law becomes as popular as body piercing.

Benefits of Ear Piercing – Early Ear Piercing Helps Avoid Keloids

A recent study published online reveals that early ear piercing reduces the risk of keloids.  The study http://www.onlinenews.com.pk/details.php?id=162745 says that delaying ear piecing until pre-teen or teen years can aggravate the chances of developing keloids.

Keloids are uncontrolled growth of fibrous tissue after an injury or scar on any area of the body. Keloids can occur on ears, scalp, top of the foot and even the chest, especially after first piercings. The findings of the study based on a survey of 27 females and 5 males showed that people who had their ears pierced at the age of 11 or older were more likely to develop keloids than those who took to ear piercing before that. Miley Cyrus’ Jewelry Found to be Toxic – Another Reason to Shop at Authentic Body Jewelry Stores Only!!

Mile Cyrus’ jewelry line available at Wal-Mart was found to be toxic with high levels of metal Cadmium. How bad is it? Really bad when this can be a potential cause of softening bones and even kidney failure if exposure to the metal is long enough.

First things first, teen queen or no teen queen, don’t buy body jewelry off stores that are not qualified to sell it, and parents should totally abstain from it. The jewelry in question is necklaces and bracelets by Miley Cyrus and not body piercing jewelry. However, safety cannot be compromised when it’s metal on body.

Being fair to Ms. Cyrus, it was perhaps an oversight by the manufacturers but one’s jewelry line also means being responsible for what’s being sold out. So the only bad on Miley Cyrus’ and her team of jewelry designers was the QC on the particular selection that was taken to the stores.

Lesson for Teens & Parents – Buy Body Jewelry From Reputable Sources only
We understand that credibility of celebrities is hard to break but that is far from a seal of safety. When it comes to body modification (real body jewelry) items, only trust the certified and authenticated authority’s that handle this and only body jewelry and have a reputation to go with it.

Never buy body jewelry off the streets, kiosks, some of the online stores that are obviously selling junk. Use common sense with this. Me personally I would Never put anything in my body that i purchased at Walmart, but that is just me. Although there are an awful lot of jokes about Walmart and China said by other people. Next time it may not be Cadmium but nickel (which is far more prevalent than Cadmium) causing the scare. Why take a chance and stumble upon something you don’t want to get – an infection or an illness. We are not even saying to purchase from us, just purchase from a reputable place only and use good common sense this is basically a piece of metal that you are going to implant in your body. Make sure it is decent quality!

Keep shining with pure and authentic cadmium or  nickel free body jewelry!

The Bizarre World of Body Piercing gets more bizarre with Eyeball Piercing Jewelry!

The Netherlands Institute for Innovative Ocular Surgery came up with eyeball piercing jewelry read Cosmetic Extraocular Implant (CEI). Sounds strange or tempting – read the full story at: http://tattoo.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=tattoo&cdn=style&tm=26&gps=81_294_1276_874&f=00&su=p284.5.420.ip_&tt=2&bt=0&bts=0&zu=http%3A//www.niioc.nl/cei-eng.htm

The jewelry does not influence functioning of the eye – no risk to visual clarity or mobility is claimed.

Eyeball piercing – Definitely unheard of!

With the rate at which new body piercing ideas seem to pop up, there will come a time when body jewelry designers may not be able to keep up with the pace! Still this lack of body jewelry innovations won’t really stop body piercing adventurers to just sit back and stare at the needle and the body piercing world will continue to grow.

Perhaps someone bored of regular body jewelry and piercings came up with eyeball piercing too or as the source states – the poor organ of sight has been left jewelry less for a long time now! With ears, nose, lips and even eyebrows getting all the attention and the body jewelry.

Made from special material the CEI or the JewelEye (affectionately called) is implanted on the superficial conjunctiva through an exclusive surgical procedure which involving anesthesia. To put it more simply the CEI will be twinkling in the white of the eye.  The JewelEye is available in the following shapes:

  • Heart
  • Star
  • Eurosign
  • Four-Leaved Clover
  • Music Notes and even other shapes

Now getting that spark in the eye will only be a surgery away. Intrigued enough to try it?

All the very best to those considering eyeball piercing!

Tongue Piercing – The Right Way

A 15 year old girl from UK was in news* recently for getting her tongue pierced. Due to profuse bleeding she had to be rushed to a hospital and now the girl has trouble speaking clearly. Before you get your tongue pierced, know the right way of going about it.

Tongue piercing is perhaps more popular than labret piercing, especially among teenagers who don’t want to get caught with an upfront piercing. So if you are one of those bitten by the piercing bug and ready to go under the needle, read through the simple steps below:

  • Always go to a certified piercer and don’t lie about your age! Even if your mind is all ready to take the plunge think about your body. There’s a reason why there is an age limit for body piercing.
  • Use nickel free body jewelry to minimize the risk of infections and other allergies.
  • Follow the body piercer’s instructions instead thinking you know better. Now obviously you don’t argue with anyone with a needle but still hear out all the before and after instructions carefully and understand them.
  • It’s better to go to a renowned piercing parlor with no bad press or lawsuits in its history.

Tongue piercing is cool so don’t make it look dreadful. Also don’t lose out on your gift of gab over an avoidable goof up.
